History of Christians in Pakistan.

Pakistan is an Islamic state with its capital at Islamabad.  97% population is of fundamental Muslims; the rest is made up of 1.6% Christians and 1% of Buddhists, Hindus, out of 197 million, 2.5 million are Christians. Being under the heavy flood of religious fundamentalism the constitutional and social prejudice is practiced with the Christians. According to law, Christian cannot become president, prime minister, chief of army staff and chief justice of the country.
The blasphemy law is another stigma on the human face of the country, hundreds of Christians are charged of Blasphemy, and most of the cases have been found false and based on personal rifts. The prejudice and infect hatred among the common people for the Muslims creates serious problems in the social lives of the Christians. The religious fundamentalist Pakistan
basically is an agriculture country. Thus 60% population is residing in rural area whilst 40% are now residing in big cities, and towns. Literacy rate is 25%. The Government could not tackle this problem ever since the emergence of Pakistan, which was founded by Mohamed Ali Jinnah, 1947 who was well aware of the nature of his people. That’s why he gave one motto "Unity, Faith and Discipline ". None of the Ruling parties ever kept this motto in view. The
nation therefore remained mostly UN-united, and for Sectarian reasons as well. After September 11, 2001 attacks on World Trade Center in New York and its aftermath for the Christians in Pakistan, US and its allies' attack on Afghanistan, the terrorists have attacked Christian institutions and dozens of Christians have been died in these attacks leaving many injured. The terrorists have not only targeted the big institutions like Christian School and Churches but they have targeted even Hospitals and Christian Villages, The Islamic fundamentalists in the country have their strong roots in the villages and small towns all over the country and the youth who went for the training for Jihad is brain washed injecting specific teachings against Christians. These terrorists if survive in their fights do not have any other skill to earn their living so they become "professional terrorists" and play at the hands of the religious leaders. Since the interaction of the Christians with the Muslim community have not grown and the limited interaction, if any, makes Christians dependent on the Muslims. The Christians are resource less and poor and they have to depend on the Muslims for their economic and social survival. They have to depend on the Muslims for survival. This kind of interaction cannot ensure equal status for the Christians. In this background the Christians, due to their faith, becomes the most vulnerable community in the country. Most of the Christian people living in the cities do the sanitary work, socially degradable profession, and they have to cling to it for centuries as there is no prospect for them to grow. The Christian people in the villages work on the lands of the Muslim people and are considered "out class" in the social life. In this background they are the easiest targets for the terrorists as being socially
and economically poor they cannot protest. If they protest, nobody hears them Christ View Church Pakistan wants its work with the Christians living in the remote areas, villages and urban slums. The daily experience living among the people of other faiths and our faith in Christ gave us light to start the work based on the spiritual and social growth of the Christians. As they live among the Muslims, they get least chance to explore God in their lives. The children study in the Government schools where they have to read Islamic education as a compulsory subject. They get brain washed in many cases and does not let the Holy Spirit enter in their lives. According to the personal experience as members Christian education, the children learn the Islamic verses by heart but do not know how to pray to Jesus Christ. Many Christian youth convert to Islam. In this context, Christ View Church Pakistan wants started its work for the Christian formation of the people of God and provides them basic faculties of life ensuring their economic and social independence in the society.
